Our mission
Buying your first serious camera is confusing. Spec sheets are full of jargon, forums argue about brands, and it's hard to know what actually matters for the photos you want to take. Photography Gear Guide exists to cut through that noise with clear, practical and independent explanations.
We cover the essentials every photographer needs: how to choose a first camera and lens, the different types of lenses, camera types and brands, how camera settings and the exposure triangle work, and the festivals and events that make up the photography world.
Editorial standards
- Independent. No brand pays for placement or for favourable coverage in our guides.
- Beginner first. We explain terms when we use them and link to our glossary for the rest.
- Accurate and up to date. We review our guides regularly. Camera models, prices and event dates change often, so we point you to official sources where it matters.
- Corrections. If you spot an error, please tell us — we fix mistakes promptly.
